Known for its innovation and strategic outreach to girls who otherwise would not have the opportunity to become Girl Scouts…our council requires an investment from donors like you! We are steadfast in our commitment to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Your tax-deductible donation to support the Girl Scout Council of Greater Long Beach and their volunteer leaders will result in a state of the art program empowering our girls and ensure that Girl Scouts is available every girl everywhere.

Q: Why are my purchases of Girl Scout Cookies not considered a gift to Girl Scouts?
A: Girl Scout Cookies and Girl Scout Fall Sale Products are financial literacy programs designed to teach Girl Scouts a variety of skills including goal-setting, and public speaking. Girl Scout Cookies and Girl Scout Fall Sale products are considered an exchange of goods and the fair market value of these items is not tax deductible. 100% of the proceeds directly support the girls with a portion going directly back to the troop and a portion remaining with the council.

Q: How much of my donation goes directly to girls?
A: 81% of the council’s income benefits Girl Scout Program for all girls in our council. 19% of the council’s income goes toward management and general operating support of the Girl Scout Council of Greater Long Beach. (2006 Annual Report)

Q: Where does the annual $10 Membership Fee go?
A:The annual Girl Scouts of the USA membership registration fee is paid directly to GSUSA through our council. 

These dues help to underwrite national program efforts, development of Girl Scout Handbooks and materials, accident insurance for all current members who participate in Girl Scout activities, the Girl Scout Leader magazine, and administrative support to councils.

Q: Do charitable foundations support the Girl Scout organization?
