Summary:
Responsible for the welfare, happiness and supervision of campers during unstructured creative play and sport activities before and/or after regular camp hours (6.30-9.30 am and 2.30-6.30 pm).
Position Title: Before/After Care Coordinator
Position Reports to: Day Camp Director
FLSA Status: Temporary Employee/Seasonal
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- • Supervise camper participation in structured and unstructured activities
- • Participates in the development and implementation of before/after care activities
- • Keep record of attendance for morning and afternoon sessions
- • Assist in day camp administrative tasks such as delivering and preparing materials, calling parents, and helping the Day Camp Director
- • Maintains high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff
- • Assure campers are properly supervised at all times; be aware of and implement safety guidelines
- • Maintains effective relationships with staff and campers
- • Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of campers served
- • Interact appropriately with campers in a variety of situations
- • Appropriately model behavior and use positive behavior-management techniques - enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control.
- • Actively participate in staff trainings and meeting
Qualifications:
- • Minimum age, 18 years old
- • Willingness to promote and encourage the Girl Scout philosophy
- • Experience and demonstrated ability in working with children of different ages, backgrounds, and interests
- • Be willing and able to obtain current First Aid/CPR certifications
- • Ability to work in a team setting with people of various ethnic, religious and economic backgrounds
- • Current member or willing to be a current member of the Girl Scouts of Greater Long Beach
- • Ability to lift and move weight of 35lbs or more

Compesation: $8.50-9.00 an hour
