Summary:
Responsible for the organization and administration of the aquatics and boating program and oversees waterfront operations. Provides quality day camp program, ensures emotional and physical safety of campers, and encourages the success of every girl at camp.
Position Title: Waterfront Supervisor
Position Reports to: Day Camp Director
FLSA Status: Temporary Employee/Seasonal
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements waterfront program, unit activities and all camp activities
- Supervise campers’ participation in structured and unstructured waterfront activities and day camp activities
- Delegates specific responsibilities to staff members as assigned, helping each to develop leadership skills, responsibility, and a caring attitude as members of a cohesive team
- Develops and monitors the care of waterfront equipment, facilities and supplies
- Maintains high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff
- Assure campers are properly supervised at all times; be aware of and implement safety guidelines
- Maintains effective relationships with staff and campers
- Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of campers served
- Interact appropriately with campers in a variety of situations
- Appropriately model behavior and use positive behavior-management techniques - enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control.
- Actively participate in staff trainings and meeting
- Overnight activities may be required
Qualifications:
- Minimum age, 21 years old
- Willingness to promote and encourage the Girl Scout philosophy
- Experience and demonstrated ability in working with children of different ages, backgrounds, and interests
- Prior experience in summer camp and/or life guarding and boating instruction
- Be willing and able to obtain current American Red Cross Lifeguard or equivalents, First Aid and CPR certifications
- Ability to work in a team setting with people of various ethnic, religious and economic backgrounds
- Current member or willing to be a current member of the Girl Scouts of Greater Long Beach
- Ability to visually monitor waterfront area
- Ability to demonstrate proper waterfront techniques, including safety procedures
- Ability to lift and move weight of 55lbs or more

Compesation: $10.00-11.50 an hour
