Q: What is the relationship between the Girl Scout Council of Greater Long Beach and GSUSA?
A:We are fully chartered with Girl Scouts of the USA and part of a vast sisterhood of nearly four million girls and adults who belong to the Girl Scouts of the United States of America. In fact, more than 50 million women in the U.S. today are Girl Scout alumnae.
Q: What is the organization structure?
A:The council is lead by a CEO, a professional staff, and volunteers and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The CEO directly reports to the Board of Directors. We are all committed to our mission and here to serve the girls.
Q: What is your mission?
A:Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
Q: What does it cost?
A:Girls and adults may join Girl Scouts by paying a $10 annual membership fee. The fee goes directly to GSUSA and includes the cost of insurance during Girl Scout activities. Troops set their own troop dues for supplies and activities. Financial aid is available so that no girl is denied the opportunity of being a Girl Scout.
Q: How can I volunteer?
A:If you have a skill, a spark, or just a dream of helping girls grow strong, there is a place for your volunteer spirit in Girl Scouting. Whether you have a lot of time to give or just a little, you can make a difference in the lives of girls.
Q: How can I make a financial contribution?
A: Please visit our Donor Page.
Q: Are you affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America?
A:Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. is both separate and distinct from Boy Scouts of America. We are two separate and unrelated organizations.
