Man in My Life event on March 29, 2008

To earn her silver award, Esther Wu with the help and support of her sister Girl Scouts in Troop 330, hosted LACHEN's "Man in My Life" event on March 29, 2008.  Girls, dads and other special guys from 5 different troops met at Westgate Park in Cerritos for fun and games.  Pairs enjoyed a morning of inventive games including a three legged relay in which pairs carried water and monkey in the middle with beach balls and towels.  One of the "guys" favorite games was "How Well Do You Know Your Daughter/Dad?"  It was funny and a great way to strike up conversations between dads and guys/scouts.

Great job Esther and  Troop 330!!

THINKING DAY 2008 - Cruise the Continents With Us!

The LACHEN Service Unit had a record number of girls attend this year's Thinking Day Event - "Cruise the Continents With Us". Organized as a bronze award project by Junior Girls Scouts Kasey Cordova and Jessica Gardner (Troop 502), the event not only introduced girls to 8 different countries/cultures, but also raised their awareness for water concerns worldwide. The girls sampled foods, played games, made crafts, sang songs, and learned foreign words from Morocco, Italy, Portugal, Mexico, Australia, France, Japan and the Philippines. In addition, they learned about the difficulties to obtain water, as well as the health issues girls experience because they do not have sufficient or clean water.

In addition to focusing on countries throughout the world, LACHEN Scouts collected 86 picture to early reader books and made bookmarks to donate to a local, underprivledged preschool.

It was a fantastic evening.  Not only did we have fun, but we made the world a better place!

She and Me Tea

LACHEN Girl Scouts, along with a special guest, were treated to tea by the Cadettes of Troop 48.  The event was held Saturday, March 15th at Palms Park Community Center.  The beautifully dressed attendees were served delicious finger sandwiches, scones and other scrumptious treats by our Cadette scouts.  In addition, there were drinks to suit every palate, from black teas to fruity punches.   Everyone enjoyed a morning of tea and friendship.  Thanks Troop 48!
