| Sunset in Naples Annual Fundraiser
Our annual fundraising event will be held on Saturday June 7th at our very own Marine Landing facility. Guests will enjoy a ride on a gondola, a delicious Italian meal, fine wine and an opportunity to purchase items from our live and silent auction. Proceeds from this event are used for program development, training materials for leaders, activity equipment and supplies for girls, financial assistance and maintenance of our properties. This year we will also be honoring three women of courage, confidence, and character: Diane DuBois, Mayor - city of Lakewood, Gerrie Schipske, Councilwomen 5th District - City of Long Beach, and Rosemary Voss, Realtor with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. We are currently seeking items for our silent auction, event sponsors, and guests. This is a really unique and fun event and hope you will attend. Additional information is available on our website here or by contacting Myrna.
Ambassador Group
The Ambassador’s are a group of five young women; Francesca Baldi, Marissa Delgado, Jessie Klemme, and Sasha Malbrough. This group meets regularly with Shannon Johnston our CEO and Teresa Heston our Program Manager to discuss council goals, objectives and operations. They also provide advice and guidance on older girl programming – what girls are looking for in programs, how we can best serve them etc. They also attend the Board of Directors meeting and are currently working on a presentation for our Annual Meeting.
Girl Scouts Robotics Team - Atlanta Bound!

As you all know two of our girls, Taylor Halsey and Jessie Klemme are participating in the first LA County Girl Scout Robotics Team. Well, here is the latest news: following their recent competition in San Diego the team went on to FIRST Robotics regional competition in Las Vegas, NV. Our ladies did another fantastic job, with the great direction from our Jet Propulsion Lab women mentors, and made it to the final round of playoffs! The ladies won the first round and tied the second, and in the tie breaker round lost to the other team in the last few seconds of the round. BUT..... the ladies won the Inspiration Award, and therefore have an invitation to the National Competition in Atlanta!
For those of you not familiar with the FIRST competition, it is basically unheard of for a first year team to do so well, much less get an invitation to Nationals. Our team competed in 4 regional playoffs - chasing the prize of an invitation to Nationals for the winning team. Now, the team is off to compete in Atlanta, Georgia on April 17-19. Congratulations to Taylor and Jessie and their sister team mates for all of their time, hard work, positive attitude, and determination!
