Welcome Back!

We hope you all had an enjoyable summer and ready for another fun and exciting Girl Scout Year!

 

Summer Camp Re-cap

Hundreds of girls enjoyed our annual summer camp programs at El Ranchito and Marine Landing this past summer. We would like to extend a special thanks to all of our wonderful adult volunteers and Program Aids for sharing their time, talents, and dedication in providing an outstanding experience for all of the girls who attended.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2nd Annual Leaders Conference

October 13, 2007 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 NOON

Leaders and Volunteers are invited to join us for a morning of enrichment workshops at El Ranchito. Spend the morning learning new information, making new friends, and sharing ideas. Some of the workshops to be presented include: Flag Ceremonies, Monkey Fists, Girl Scout Songs, Games, Managing Troop Paperwork, Bronze, Silver, and Gold Projects, and Places to Go. Please contact Sherlyn Beatty for additional information and to RSVP.

Fall Product Program

It is time for our annual Nut and Magazine product program. Here are some important dates to remember. Please contact Sharon if you have any questions or need additional information.

Town Hall Meeting

Our annual Town Hall meeting will be held on Thursday October 18 at 6:30pm here at El Ranchito and is open to all leaders and volunteers. This is an opportunity to learn about what is new and exiting with our council in addition to receiving an update on our upcoming realignment. Please RSVP to Mary.

Girl Scout Reunion

Girl Scout Reunion Celebration

Take a walk down memory lane with us as we celebrate 95 years of Girl Scouting. This Girl Scout Alumnae celebration will take place on Sunday Nov. 4th from 1pm-3:30pm at Marine Landing. Join us as we share our favorite Girl Scout memories, enjoy a s’more or two, and sing a few camp songs. Please RSVP to Myrna. Additional information is also available on our website.

New Council Staff Member

We are pleased to announce that Marie Xiong has joined our staff as our new Web and Graphic Designer. She replaces Lauren Krause who resigned last month to pursue another career opportunity. Marie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in both print and web design and is excited to be a Girl Scout! Please join us in welcoming her! mxiong@gscglb.org

New Interest Programs

GSUSA/Studio 2B has created some new and exciting Interest Projects (IP). Fresh topics, new activity structures, categories, requirements and awards are some of the changes in these new IP’s. Girls now have a choice to compete either these new IP’s, the traditional IP’s or a combination of both. Specific information is available at www.studio2b.org or contact Teresa.


Girl Scouts are needed to help with Step Out To Fight Diabetes!

The American Diabetes Association is looking for volunteers to help with their annual 5k walk to be held on Saturday Oct. 20th at Shoreline Village. They are in need for assistance with registration, greeting participants, and cheering sections. Daisy Troop 16 spent the afternoon at the American Gymnastics Academy earning their “Courageous and Strong” daisy petal.

 

 

 

 

Justin Rudd, Founder of the Community Action Team (C.A.T.) is looking for Girl Scouts to help with the annual “Haute Dog Howl’oeen Parade” on Sunday Oct. 28th. The parade will run along 2nd Street in Belong Shores. Girl Scouts is asked to help staff the water stations along the parade route so the dogs can stop and have a drink. They are looking at having about 500 dogs participate. The parade will begin at 2:30pm and last about one hour. Troops can contact Justin at Justinrudd@aol.com for additional information and to sign up.
