Leader Appreciation Day
April 22nd is Leader Appreciation Day. This is the day to thank your daughter’s leader for all his/her hard work.
Here are a few ideas:
Say “Thank You!”
Nominate him/her for an Outstanding Leader award here.
Plan a surprise party
Create a collage of the troop
Take him/her out to lunch
Send a thank you note with a list of all the things you've seen him/her do for the troop
Offer to help him/her with a troop activity by sharing a special talent or skills
Offer to chaperone
Have the troop plant a tree or a garden in his/her honor
Give him/her flowers, a homemade item, or something from the Girl Scout shop
And remember, you can do these things year round to show your gratitude! Your Girl Scout leaders are some of the hardest working people. They are an essential part of our Girl Scout movement. Please be sure your leader knows how much you appreciate his/her time and talent.

Ambassador Group
The Ambassador’s are a group of five young women; Francesca Baldi, Marissa Delgado, Jessie Klemme, and Sasha Malbrough. This group meets regularly with Shannon Johnston our CEO and Teresa Heston our Program Manager to discuss council goals, objectives and operations. They also provide advice and guidance on older girl programming – what girls are looking for in programs, how we can best serve them etc. They also attend the Board of Directors meeting and are currently working on a presentation for our Annual Meeting.
Girl Scouts Robotics Team - Atlanta Bound!

As you all know two of our girls, Taylor Halsey and Jessie Klemme are participating in the first LA County Girl Scout Robotics Team. Well, here is the latest news: following their recent competition in San Diego the team went on to FIRST Robotics regional competition in Las Vegas, NV. Our ladies did another fantastic job, with the great direction from our Jet Propulsion Lab women mentors, and made it to the final round of playoffs! The ladies won the first round and tied the second, and in the tie breaker round lost to the other team in the last few seconds of the round. BUT..... the ladies won the Inspiration Award, and therefore have an invitation to the National Competition in Atlanta!
For those of you not familiar with the FIRST competition, it is basically unheard of for a first year team to do so well, much less get an invitation to Nationals. Our team competed in 4 regional playoffs - chasing the prize of an invitation to Nationals for the winning team. Now, the team is off to compete in Atlanta, Georgia on April 17-19. Congratulations to Taylor and Jessie and their sister team mates for all of their time, hard work, positive attitude, and determination!
What are Rope Runners??

The Rope Runner is a wooden figure which rolls down a rope on a single wheel, using weights to balance. It is based on a traditional toy concept. The Rope Runner is simple in design and easy to assemble. But, seeing it in action is really quite amazing! Girls and their special guy are invited to our Rope Runner Derby on Saturday April 26th. We will supply each team with a kit at the time of signing up which they can then create their very own rope runner. This is a great event for your Girl Scout and that special man in her life (dad, grandfather, older brother, uncle, family friend etc.) to participate and have some fun! Additional information can be found here. To register please contact Jeanette.
