Travel the World on the Ship for World Youth

Do you have girls between 18 and 30, flexible and willing to travel for two months, January 15-March 5, 2008, with 250 youths from around the world? If so, they may want to apply for the Ship for World Youth, which is organized and financed by the Government of Japan. On the Ship for World Youth, they’ll visit Japan, Singapore, Oman and India to learn about international cooperation and understanding while serving with 10 other youth ambassadors from the United States. The selection committee encourages Girl Scout members--girls and adults--to apply. To learn more about the Ship for World Youth, including its history, who can apply, and the application deadlines, click on the links in the Get Involved section of the Ships for World Youth USA website.

Attention Boeing Employees!

The Girl Scout Council of Greater Long Beach currently receives grant funding from the Boeing Foundation and we would like to apply for additional funding from the Employee’s Community Fund of Boeing California to help fund our Discover Girl Scouts program. One of the grant requirements is to be nominated by the employees of Boeing. The more nominations our council receives the stronger our grant proposal. The form is quite simple and can be found on our website. Please fill in the necessary information and follow the mailing instructions closely. Thank you!

Council Needs

The council is looking for a gently used riding lawn mower for El Ranchito and two energy saver refrigerators for the troop house. If you can help please contact Sharon 562) 421-8456 ext 209. Thanks!
