Girl Scout Council of Greater Long Beach

Welcome Back!

We hope you all had an enjoyable summer and ready for another fun and exciting Girl Scout Year!

United Way Funding Change

After many years of mutually-beneficial collaboration, the Girl Scout Council of Greater Long Beach is disappointed to no longer receive United Way funding from the United Way of Greater Los Angels, due to United Way’s new Pathways Out of Poverty funding criteria. United Way was one of the few agencies to provide general operating funds for non-profit agencies. Their change in funding strategy has created quite a financial loss for not only all of the Girl Scout councils in the greater Los Angeles area but also other local non-profit agencies. The only funds we will be receiving from United Way is through individual designated gifts. Now more than ever, Girl Scouts needs financial support from community businesses, foundations, and individuals. Participating in the United Way Annual Campaign through payroll deductions is one way you can help. Through participating in your annual employer sponsored United Way giving campaign you may designate your financial gift to the Girl Scout Council of Greater Long Beach by entering agency code #16444 on your United Way Pledge Form. All donations generated from their annual campaigns will go directly to the designated agencies (minus their 9%administration fee.) Please contact Myrna for more information
